WOLFFORTH -- Jaxon Hallmark fired a complete-game, nine-strikeout one-hitter on 93 pitches to lift Midland High to a 4-0 District 2-6A win against Wolfforth Frenship on Tuesday.

Sam Bertelson led MHS (16-13, 10-4 in District 2-6A) at the plate by going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Catcher Sam Matchus finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks for the Bulldogs.

The two teams will play again at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Zachery Field and the winner will claim the District 2-6A title. The loser will either settle for second, or drop to third if Lee beats Odessa High Friday.

MHS grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on a double by Bertelson and added another run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Chris Sims. The Bulldogs completed the game’s scoring with two more runs in the third.
